W.O.W. #2

Workout Wednesday #2 (ya know because I missed last week).  Scope out Skinny Meg and link up there for more W.O.W fun!

First and foremost I got double-unders (when you turn the jump rope twice for every time you jump) today during the WOD.  I can get 1 or 2 and then I usually crap out.  Well, the WOD called for 90 of those bitches.  One of my amazing coaches apparently decided today was the day I was going to figure it out.  The other option he gave me was to run my sorry butt 3 extra miles.  Ummmm…NO.  I spent about 10 minutes on them before the workout and determined I could string double, single, single, double, single, single, etc.  So thats what the plan was for the WOD.  Of course only counting the doubles.  Between those and the running it was a less then fun 20 minutes and 22 seconds but I got all 90 double-unders!  Once I caught my breath excited would be the understatement.

Moral of the story…don’t give up, push yourself, and when you think you’re going to fall over and die keep going.  It really is a mental game.  More often then not you’ve got to convince yourself that you can do it, that you will keep going, and that no matter how long it takes it will be worth it in the end.

This goes for everything.  Bad workout today?  There is tomorrow!  “Can’t” do something?  Can you really not do it or are you afraid to push yourself?  Yes there are skills that take time (lots of time)…am I going to get a muscle up anytime soon?  NOPE!  Heck, I cant even do a pull up.   You get to make the choices.  Big ones and small ones.  Want to skip a workout?  Your choice.  Will 1 missed workout really be detrimental in the long term?  Probably not, but once you get in that mind set its a downwards spiral (at least for me).  So push yourself!  Get up and just do it (heeeeyyy bad Nike commercial)!

Want some serious motivation…the Crossfit games are on this week.  Those people are bad ass (to say the least).  Scope it out…after your workout!

Happy Workout Wednesday!
